Cal. 44 2 5/8" (45-90). S#. C,L880 on top tang, in the records as 150880. Bbl.30" octagon measuring 1" across flats at the muzzle is marked with the Hartford address and has the Hartford collar. German silver blade front with Lawrence patent rear sight. Double set triggers. Schnabel tipped forend and straight grip stock with steel rifle buttplate. UNATTACHED ACCESORIES: R. L. Moore letter stating: "Serial Number CL880 or in the records 150880, is listed as a Sporting octagon rifle and was shipped to N. Curry & Brother, San Francisco, California, December 27, 1872. This is a very early Hartford Sharps Rifle Manufacturing Company Gun. Further designation is caliber 44, 30 inch full octagon barrel, double trigger, open sights & oil finish." CONDITION: metal has a cleaned gray appearance showing spotted corrosion. The stocks have added finish showing scratches, dents & marks. Right side of stock is cracked between the top tang and back of the lock. Sound action & triggers. Lightly pitted bore retains sound rifling. PROVENANCE: The Esteemed Norm Greenberg Collection.
